For example, if a <a href=\"\/resources\/home-fire-safety-plan\">fire severely damages your home<\/a>, you may have to move into a hotel while repairs are being made. If this happens, your insurance company could reimburse you for your hotel bill, your meals and any other reasonable living expenses.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also known as Additional Living Expenses (ALE) coverage, Loss of Use coverage works the same way whether you have a home, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthrock.com\/resources\/what-does-condo-insurance-cover\">condo<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthrock.com\/resources\/what-does-renters-insurance-cover\">renters policy<\/a>. Your policy also lists this protection as Coverage D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom:0px; margin-top:20px; font-size:18px;\"><strong>Coverage limits<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Generally speaking, your Loss of Use coverage limit will be 20 percent of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plymouthrock.com\/resources\/what-is-dwelling-insurance\">Dwelling coverage<\/a> amount. For example, if you have $300,000 of Dwelling coverage, your Loss of Use coverage limit will be $60,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some carriers may also have a time limitation on the coverage. In other words, your Loss of Use coverage will only apply for a certain number of days.
