And we\u2019re here to help, along with your independent agent, if you have a question or want more information.<\/p>\n\n<p>Massachusetts\u00a0drivers must carry at least the following insurance\u00a0coverages and limits:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-b5e3306 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"b5e3306\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3a97eb1\" data-id=\"3a97eb1\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2466015 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2466015\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Compulsory coverage<\/h2><p>There are four types of compulsory insurance that you are required to purchase under state law. Compulsory insurance is the minimum amount of\u00a0coverage\u00a0required by state law. These four compulsory\u00a0coverages are:<\/p><ul style=\"margin-bottom: 15px;\"><li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bodily injury to others protects you against legal liability for the accidental injury or death of others (but not your passengers) caused by the operation of your car, but only if the accident occurs in MA. Minimum legal requirement: $20,000\/$40,000.<\/span><\/li><li>Personal Injury Protection (PIP) pays for medical expenses, replacement services and 75% of any lost wages. PIP will pay these expenses to you or anyone you let drive your car, anyone living in your household, passengers and pedestrians, no matter who causes the accident. Minimum legal requirement: $8,000.<\/li><li>Bodily injury caused by an uninsured auto protects you, anyone you let drive your car, household members and passengers (unless covered by another policy with similar coverage) against losses caused by an uninsured or unidentified (\u201chit and run\u201d) driver. Minimum legal requirement: $20,000\/$40,000.<\/li><li>Damage to someone else\u2019s property pays for damage to another person\u2019s property when you, a household member or another authorized driver cause an accident. Minimum legal requirement: $5,000<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-4dc6a30 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4dc6a30\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b6c2aa6\" data-id=\"b6c2aa6\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e5eeb2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e5eeb2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Optional coverage<\/h2><p>Accidents can often result in damage that exceeds the state required\u00a0coverage\u00a0limits.
